Speaker Series: Developing STEM thinking for Children

On Saturday September 18th  8:00am(EDT), 5:30pm (IST), and 2:00pm (CEST), former Venture Capitalist and E-commerce expert at Amazon Rahul Raghavan, now founder of PEPSchoolv2 in Bangalore, along with Dario Cardile, President of Indigo Ai will discuss how to develop STEM thinking for children to prepare them for an increasingly digital and virtual future.

The 2-hour live discussion will be interactive and moderated by Letty Rising, trainer at the Prepared Montessorian Institute who holds a 6-12 AMI Elementary Diploma, and the head content and curriculum curator for Science Matters.

Join the event and engage in the interactive conversation. There will be an open Q&A session so you can directly chat with the Panelists on video or through chat.

TARGET AUDIENCE

If you are an educator passionate about cultivating interest of STEM for children, or a parent who wants to learn how to prepare your child for the skills needed in the 21st century workplace, you do not want to miss this event.

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED?

STEM has historically been delivered in a rote and mechanical method, which often loses interest in children and adults. Panelists Rahul, Dario and Letty believe there is a different approach that builds a deep conceptual understanding of STEM from a very early age with concrete and real-life experiences through the Montessori method. These scientists, corporate leaders and educators will discuss:

  • Why is STEM education so desirable?

  • How to engage children through interesting ways to develop a love for STEM?

  • How to develop STEM thinking as a foundation for building specific skills that are in demand in STEM occupations today and in the future?

  • What challenges educators face when delivering STEM curriculum and how to overcome them?

What they have found may surprise you, as their conclusion is as much about development of intangible skills as it is technical hard skills. Just as computers have RAM memory and processing speeds, human cognition too similarly has executive functions and working memory which can be developed as early as 2 years old. Of course, when you register, please share your preliminary questions and don't be shy to ask questions during the discussion.
